06.16.23

Greetings all!

Thank you for your continuing support of our efforts to secure Cuesta Inlet for the public. We appreciate all the positive feedback and contributions! We have received total contributions of over $185,000 – Thank you!!!

Here’s what’s happening – In April the conservation appraisal of the property was completed by Valbridge Associates. The property was appraised at seven hundred thousand dollars ($700,000).  The appraisal is necessary to obtain grant funding for the purchase and to secure a long term take out partner for the Inlet.  Since then we have been working on reaching an agreement with the owners of  Cuesta Inlet. The Inlet is owned by a group of five people who must all be in agreement in order to move forward. This issue is further complicated by IRS rules limiting nonprofits to paying no more than the appraised value of the property. We will continue to work toward our goal of securing the Inlet and remain optimistic that an agreement beneficial to all parties can be reached. We are grateful for the owners’ generosity in allowing public access to this uniquely beautiful spot.

Interested in helping? Share this email with friends and family and spread the word. Post an SCI sign in your yard. Share information about our efforts on social media.

We would like to establish a kiosk at the Morro Bay Farmers market but need volunteers to staff it.

Please stop by and see us at the Los Osos Farmers Market on Mondays! We have logo apparel and yard signs.
